And into the barrier room he went, scanning the area.
Meanwhile, Zabetar was walking through Snowdin, until he saw a figure in the distance, lying on the floor. He ran over quickly to check on them, and upon seeing that they were unconscious, heaved them up, running towards Waterffall to get Thera
And in almost another immediate second, Thera skidded to a halt in the throne room, with Zabetar behind, panting, sweating, and setting the human's body (which made it stunning that he was able to keep up lugging that kind of weight.) in Sonny's throne.
Yet... Bryson was now gone. Presumably, past where the barrier was.
Thera set him down. "You two wait here, I'm going to head on ahead!" Thera continued into the barrier room... Or the lack-of-barrier room, really. "... It's... Gone...?
Zabetar sat down, closing his eyes. "DON'T FEAR, SMALL HUMAN. SURELY THERA WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL."
Outside, was a tall, very tall, figure standing there. It was obviously Bryson, though very... Different. He was much broader now, and as well, he had, somehow, sprouted wings from his back. Luckily, skeletal instead of fleshy. And the same for... A tail, somehow. His head had changed from the rounded shape it was before, to now being a more caved-in-esque shape, along with a large, skull-like, metallic object floating above him.
Meanwhile, in the throne room, Zabetar was having a discussion with the dead human's body.
"HUMAN... I CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE HOW YOU'VE BEEN SO... SILENT... I'VE, NEVER ACTUALLY SEEN SOMEONE WHO'S "FALLEN DOWN" BEFORE."
He sighed, looking back at them.
"I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHY MY BROTHER IS MISSING. OR... WHY SOMEONE TOOK YOUR SOUL... B-BUT, I DO KNOW SOME THINGS! YOU KNOW, UNDYNE IS THE BEST AT SAVING PEOPLE. AND MANY, MANY OTHER THINGS, AND I'M SURE THE KING WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU! MY BROTHER, THOUGH... HE'D PROBABLY DO NOTHING MORE THAN FLOOD YOU WITH A TORRENT OF AWFUL PUNS."
He smiled, looking back at them. "AND... WELL, I DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT YOU HUMAN... BUT YOU SEEM LIKE A GOOD FRIEND. AND RIGHT NOW, YOU'RE DOING VERY WELL AT STAYING PUT TOGETHER, EVEN WITHOUT YOUR SOUL!"
"You... I trusted you!" Terrane said this, as more balls of earth popped up into the air behind her. "I asked you to look after this child! I asked you to promise me you would protect them!" Suddenly, all of them flew, at the now standing figure of Bryson.
"AND YOU KILLED THEM!"
The attacks landed
They all did 0 damage.
"... i... tried to protect them. so, so many times... but, something went wrong. sorry, lady..."
Sonny gave a soul-destroying glare at Terrane, daring her to continute making any sound.
His face became soft once again as he turned to Zabetar.
"Zabetar, Zabe, Zee."
He put a hand on his shoulder.
"Y'see, young one, sometimes good people do bad things to help other good people. All in all, the intentions are good, and generally the outcome is good, but the thing is bad. But the goods out number the bads, so, the bad thing isn't really bad at all, just slightly less good than some would like."
He took a step towards Bryson. "WH-WHY DID YOU DO IT, BRYSON? I COULD UNDERSTAND THERA, OR SONNY, OR EVEN CHARACHROME, BUT... IT JUST SEEMS... OUT OF CHARACTER FOR YOU. YESTERDAY, YOU WERE TOO LAZY TO EVEN PICK UP YOUR SOCK... BUT, NOW... JUST..." He sighed. "JUST, WHY?"
". . ." Bryson didn't respond, nor even look up at Zabetar.
"Respect? I am supposed to show respect for someone who broke their promises made, killed an innocent child, and went so far as to disturb their bro-"
Before she could finish the last word, Thera stepped in.
"Look, both of you right now, we don't need to do this!" She was sending a glare to Terrane, yet it still seemed she meant it for both of the two. "Right now, we need to make sure that nobody knows about this! They were all putting your hopes into you, Sonny, we don't know how they'll react. We just... Need to work out what to do next, and calm down, instead of arguing back and forth without accomplishing anything!"
Meanwhile, Zabetar sat in the corner, watching these events fold out. He seemed... Tired. Very tired.
"A-Alright, well... Okay, while Chrono is working on that, we can say that Sonny absorbed the SOULs, broke the barrier, and then unabsorbed them, storing them in case they needed to be used! That way, monsters will still be able to go to the surface, and no one will have to put all of their hope into Bryson, despite the fact that he doesn't even want them!"
Terrane seemed... Actually impressed for a moment.
"Well, lookie there! Everybody hates you!" This was said in a rather cheery voice. "And if they don't, they're disappointed in you! Y'know, I didn't know you had it in you to show what you could really do so soon! But, hey, at least you look 'Killer' now!"
The voice held in a laugh.
Bryson scoffed, looking up. "i'm not gonna be reset'n, air conditioner."
Bryson thought for a moment, before flinching as he heard 2 notes of a music box play, those being the starting of "His Theme," before the third started looping into a constant sound, and a deep, disturbing laugh filled his... Skull.
He clutched his head with one hand, and his chest with the other.
